Ode to Boo

It's a sad time around the Fafard home. I suppose it usually is when you lose a family member. Poor Boo has moved on to a better place (I hope). She took a nap in the neighbors flower bed and never woke up. What a peaceful end, surrounded by flowers.

Although most memories of her are loud ones, I still remember the day we brought her home, her first bath and the time she fell down the stairs in our condo. She wasn't always so loud. She used to sleep in the basement of our townhouse rental and I would call her up to snuggle. She'd pitter padder up the two flights of stairs to jump into bed and purr as she licked my face.

We had a few close calls with that curious cat. The time she fell behind the wall in a partially finished basement, or when she had a nap in the furnace. She liked to stalk dogs in the neighborhood and they were seriously intimidated by her stealthy approach. She's even had her run in's with the law, taking a ride in the back of a cop car a few springs back. We were not impressed when we had to post bail to get her home again.

She sure had a lot of love. Some of which she shared with a few bunnies she met. We nearly adopted one of them that she was particularly attached to. Maybe a cousin to Loupe.

Anyone who has ever spent the night with us can certainly appreciate her volume level. There's really nothing like waking up to that piercing sound right outside your door. The kind of sound that at first would convince you she was being torchured until you realize that you are the one who is in fact being torchured. That crazy cat sure had a way about her though. We spent many an afternoons together napping infront of the TV and if she was lucky she was aloud in our room to sleep on my pillow. She was a polite cat. She always asked before jumping onto the bed. We would wave her up and she'd climb on in. I still haven't cleaned up the footprints she left on my nightstand from the night she got left outside in the rain last weekend.

So poor Twixy is noticably effected my the loss of her best friend, her sister, her paymate and her worste enemy. She sits in the sun on the deck as I type, reflecting on her time with Boo, I'm sure. She will miss her companion.

And so, Boo brought much happiness, much love and much frustration to our lives. I just hope her seven and a half years were full. We miss her as her presence is noticibly absent already. I only hope she is stalking dogs in kitty heaven.

Bye Bye Boo :(

It's okay to be selfish!

Back in april, I decided it was time to pull myself out of my baby slump and start doing something that was just about me! I had spent all winter stuck inside nursing, burping, cleaning diapers and crying myself through the first few months of motherhood. Ugh.

I decided I would do something to better my wellbeing, mentaly and fisicaly. I was weak from months of doing nothing and completely broken mentaly from the tole of caring for others before myself. I would go days without showering. Not even because I didn't have time, but rather because I simply failed to see the point. Why would I shower only to get puked on or worse only moments later. It's not anything I'm proud of, but if I can't admit it, I can't over come it.

I started out with a detox. A one week strict diet to start my journey to bring myslef back to the real world. I broke my dependance from caffine and I hadn't remembered ever feeling so good.

The following week I began a 13 week 'learn to run 10k' program. It was completely thrilling to honestly amaze myself week after week. It didn't take long and I was hooked. Such a high, coming home from what seemed to be impossible and walking in the door with the self satifaction that, damn it....I just did that! Me! The new mother of twins, overweight most her life and certainly not a 'runner'. I have now moved on to a half marathon training program. It's 9 weeks to 13.1 miles and I'm on week 4. I've learned so much about myself and no longer doubt what I'm capable of doing.

I've made running a top priority because it is the one thing I do for myself. The best part being that I don't run for my physical well being anymore, although it is a benefitial side-effect. It helps me stay focused, stay positive. Because I'm not running to lose weight or fit into a pair of pants, I can't fail. I run for accomplishment. I run for distance. I run for time. I run for structure. I run for relief. I run for self.

Happy wife, happy life is proven over and over. Maybe it's time you did something for yourself. Something completely selfish. Something you love. Something you can be proud of. Something simple but with huge rewards!

Why can't wood just stay striaght! Try to pick out the straight ones, take it home, and BAM; all warped and stuff. That really blows, but we made it work anyway. Michelle and I with some great help from Derek Murdoch and Amy.

DM said building things makes you more manly, so I made sure he helped out.

Anyway, one more wall down. Couple more to go!

Erecting Wood Down There

A little trying..... but That's what she said?

Anyway, we had a productive weekend. Michelle and I built a room (framed anyway) in our basement. Checkout the pic below. Lot's of hard work and valuable help from Lynn and Ryan and we now have 2 rooms.

It wasn't very difficult, now we are ready to frame off a few more rooms. After that we will need to learn the next steps: wiring, plumbing, drywall, flooring and so on. I'm sure we will be hiring out for some things, but hopefully we can do much of it ourselves.

Check out that sweet doorway. Although I can just walk through the wall, I insist that the doorway be used ;-)

DM - if you want that carpet, it's in the garage, come and get it. (You don't want it though)

Not so facsinating...I'll be the first to admit.

1. I still have a baby tooth.

2. I'm pretty sure I have met my guardian angels. While skiing at Big White I ventured down a trail that seemed to go on for ever and ever until I met up with two very nice people who happened to show up out of now where. I was on a cross country ski trail headed all the way around the mountain (about a 6 hour treck). They happily guided me back towards the main lifts and gave me a granola bar. Then they skiied off and dissappeared as swiftly as they appeared.

3. I have a compulsive nature and prefer my fridge and pantry to be 'front faced' at all times. This is my issue, not yours, please don't mind me if I reorganize your fridge while visiting. If it's not a right angle, it's a wrong angle.

4. Of all the people I look up to, I most admire and respect my mom. She is my hero and mentor.

5. Snow makes me smile. Rain comes in at a close second.

6. When I was five, our family travelled to Disney World. I spent all day at the water park and got 3rd degree burns on my face and a nasty allergic reaction to the sun. I remember we rented a convertible car. The cream that we had to put on my face would dry and flake off and I would sit in the back seat of that car pealing off the flakes and letting them fly away in the wind. I was discusting.

7. I'm quiting my job. They don't know yet, so don't say anything. I'm going to go back to University and complete an Accounting major. No I will not do your taxes, I don't plan to be a tax accountant. I'm more interested in the Analasys side of things. It should take me one year plus a semester. Yikers, does anyone know what's cool anymore?

8. I hear babies crying in my head all day and night.

9. My arms are really strong.

10. Recently I found out that I had 3 ribs dislocated and 4 vertibre in my neck were fused together. Who knew.

11. I wish my sister lived closer.

12. There has never been a time in our nearly 8 years together that Josh or I have ever slept on the couch because of a fight.

13. Our cabin is up for sale. Interested?

14. My best friend died when I was 18 and her life and death have changed me forever. I will forever miss her and not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Especially in the summer when the sky is blue and full of white fluffy clouds. She told me once that she wanted to sit in the clouds. I believe that she is sitting there watching down on us.-Love you Buddy-

15. I learned to water ski when I was four and a half.

16. Adda is named after my great-grandmother on my mom's side.

17. How sad is that...I can't even think of more than 16.

They say things are fat all the time, so I took it a step further. In this case, it means the most beautiful ever. If a foxy dame comes walking in, you can call her horribly obese. I think it might take some time before it catches on, so use this one with caution because some broads may not have heard it yet and could take it the wrong way.

I havn't read yet, but I'm sure Dwights blog has some good stuff: http://blog.nbc.com/DwightsBlog/
